LANSING, Mich. — June in Lansing has not only brought rising temperatures; it has featured a soccer club heating up just as fast. Lansing Common FC has kept finding ways to win on the road, and a month of dominance has earned the unbeaten Robins a four-point lead in the Great Lakes West Division with 16 points through six games and a plus-seven goal differential.
Since taking over the top spot in the division, Lansing Common fans have yet to see their team play a Midwest Premier League match at home. That changes tonight as LCFC prepares to face Goshen City FC for the second time this season.
Goshen currently sits third in the division with 11 points through six games and a plus-five goal differential, creating a must-win situation if the Indiana club hopes to stay in the title race.
A draw would still leave them within reach, but a loss would create an eight-point gap with just three games remaining, making the path to the top far more difficult.
Given the stakes, Goshen is expected to throw everything it has at Lansing, especially after the teams’ last meeting ended in a tightly contested 3–2 victory for the Robins. Late in the game a foul in the box set up Jack Heald with a penalty kick, which he converted for the game-winning goal.
Although the previous match was close, LCFC enters as one of the hottest teams in the MWPL. Backed by a rowdy home crowd, it may be a tough task for Goshen to overcome.
That challenge becomes even greater considering Lansing’s recent match. The Robins secured a 3–2 road win over Tulip City United SC on a stoppage-time goal from Joey Farhat, adding fuel to an already surging run.
For the first time in nearly a month, Midwest Premier League action returns to Eastern Stadium when LCFC hosts Goshen City FC at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, in a premier divisional matchup. The club will also celebrate Pride Night, honoring inclusion and community. Tickets are $5 online or $7 at the gate. Food vendors include Krystal’s Kitchen BBQ, Capital City Sweets, and Lansing Common’s regular concessions.
