Lansing Common FC begins its sixth season in the Midwest Premier League with a special community kickoff event this Sunday, May 3, at Eastern Stadium. The afternoon will feature a free youth soccer clinic, followed by a preseason friendly against local side Liboka FC.
The event offers fans their first look at the 2026 Robins as they prepare to challenge for the MWPL title after finishing second in 2025. This year’s opener highlights the growth of the local soccer scene, as Lansing Common faces off against Liboka FC, a Lansing-based club founded in 2024 with strong roots in the city’s African communities, including Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, and Burundi.
“We are thrilled to be entering our sixth season and to start it off with an event that celebrates the Lansing soccer community,” said Lansing Common FC President Eric Walcott. “Welcoming a local club like Liboka FC is a great way to kick off our season with a celebration of Lansing area soccer. I can’t wait to see the fans back in the stands at Eastern Stadium.”
Tickets are just $5 when purchased online. In addition to the action on the pitch, fans can enjoy food from the Taqueria Monarca food truck alongside the stadium’s usual concessions menu.
