From a star at Haslett High School to playing overseas, Lansing Common FC forward Brandon Dixon’s story is an adventurous one.
Dixon, a first-year player for the Robins, has had quite the journey before joining LCFC.
After playing varsity soccer for Haslett and earning all-conference honors, Dixon decided to travel overseas to pursue a professional career after his junior year.
“It was an amazing experience being over there, and seeing a high level of competitiveness out there was crazy,” said Dixon. “It’s really nice to be with people I’ve been with growing up, seeing them play in high school, and playing against them was very fun.”
Dixon started six games for Belgrade United FC in Serbia and scored four goals in six appearances with the club.
He also got the opportunity to try out for Vasalunds IF, a second-division club in Sweden.
“I got to meet a bunch of academy players that are now playing professionally, so it was really cool to train and learn from those guys,” said Dixon.
After playing in Europe, Dixon’s return to Michigan landed him a roster spot at Lansing Common FC.
“I’ve really enjoyed it here. Everyone is very friendly, and the Lansing community is really nice,” Dixon said. “It’s a joy to be back with some of my high school friends that I haven’t seen in over two years because I’ve been overseas. I couldn’t ask for a better team right now.”
Dixon has appeared in every game for the Robins so far this season and scored a spectacular goal from distance against Holland Struikrovers on June 11.
