After defeating Troy United in the season opener at Eastern Stadium, Lansing Common FC will complete its two-game homestand with their second and final friendly on Friday, May 19 against Northville United.

The Robins opened the 2023 season with a 4-0 win in a friendly against new Midwest Premier League club Troy United FC.

Even with the 4-0 result, head coach Brent Sorg emphasized the importance of finishing scoring opportunities.

“We have to make good when we have those chances,” Sorg said. “Great teams will punish you when you don’t capitalize on scoring opportunities. It’s going to be important for us to finish those opportunities and make sure that we are quality in those moments.”

Playing in the Michigan Premier Soccer League, Northville United finished fifth in the league’s open division in 2022, with 1 win, 3 losses, and 3 draws. This will be the second match of Northville’s 2023 season after they defeated Cavaliers FC 3-1 in their opener.

Friday night’s match will also be the last Lansing Common home game for over a month, as the team will play six consecutive matches on the road before returning home to Eastern Stadium on June 24.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm at Eastern Stadium. Tickets are just $5 online when purchased through the Fanbase Clubs app or $7 at the gate.
