New community-owned club, Lansing School District reach agreement on partnership for games, practices, student enrichment opportunities

Lansing, MI – Lansing Common FC and the Lansing School District announced today a partnership that will see Lansing Common play their home matches at the Lansing Eastern Stadium at 400 N. Pennsylvania Ave in 2021.

“This is a huge step for our club. To be able to play at such a great new facility in the heart of the city is such an important piece of what we’re trying to do both on and off the field,” said Board President Eric Walcott.

The partnership will see Lansing Common use the Eastern High School stadium as its primary facility for games and practices, as well as work with the school district to support the district’s high school soccer programs and provide opportunities to engage students throughout the district.

“I’m most excited about the possible opportunities we can provide to Lansing School District students as part of this partnership,” said LCFC Vice-President Geoff Sykes. “We are committed to investing in the future professionals, leaders, and athletes of Lansing.”

Lansing Common FC board members tour Eastern Stadium in early March.

“It will be a great opportunity for the Lansing School District and the Lansing community to experience some high-caliber soccer and support each other as well,” said Lansing School District Athletic Director Chris Henderson. “We have a beautiful athletic facility/venue at Eastern High school and are proud to be able to serve our community and enhance our Lansing area athletic programs.”

Lansing Common has tryouts coming up on March 14 and April 18 and will begin play in mid-May. Tryout registration and information on the 2021 Midwest Premier League season are available at lansingcommonfc.com
