INTERNSHIPS

Interested in having a quality experience working in sports? Would you like to help bring a high-level soccer experience to the Lansing community? Lansing Common FC’s season kicks off in May and we are currently accepting internship applications!

Lansing Common FC is a community-based soccer club and non-profit organization that competes in the Midwest Premier League. Our Mission is to be a club that represents our community. We believe that by bringing people together from all walks of life, listening to each other’s ideas, and working collectively, we can be a club that truly represents our great city.

Candidates must be available beginning on May 1st, but could begin contributing earlier. The positions will run through early August.

Candidates are expected to work 6-8 hours on home game days with some additional hours spent participating in occasional community and team events.

The following unpaid internships and volunteer opportunities are designed for individuals seeking work experience in a related field, but all applicants are welcome. See below for complete internship descriptions:

GAME DAY OPERATIONS

 

Description: These individuals will be responsible for assisting with home game day duties that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Field, spectator, sponsor, and team assistance
  • Event coordination
  • Press box management
  • Scoreboard operation
  • Statistics tracking
  • Merchandise and concessions sales and vendor assistance
  • Community engagement activities

Most home games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Lansing Eastern Stadium.

Key Game Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist with field operations and coordination with coaches, officials, and players for the entirety of a game day
  • Assist with and manage social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) on game day
  • Assist with sponsor-related operations such as ticket fulfillment and placement of advertising
  • Assist with spectator-related operations such as ticket fulfillment, customer service, merchandise sales, and seating
  • Prepare the press box before each game, provide assistance during games, and cleanup after games
  • Operate the scoreboard and manage the public address system
  • Assist photographers and videographers as needed and provide access to the field and team
  • Receive new assignments as needed and deliver an end product with minimal supervision

During the week, candidates may be responsible for various tasks depending on their skills and interests. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Creation of Social Media and marketing content
  • Community Engagement events
  • Sponsor engagement
  • Assistance with tasks related to team practices

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING

 

Description: These individuals will be responsible for assisting with duties that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing stories about club and team activities for the club website
  • Creation of social media and marketing content
  • Interviewing coaches and players
  • Attending occasional team practices
  • Community engagement activities

Most home games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Lansing Eastern Stadium and broadcast on YouTube.

Key Game Day Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and transcribe team member interviews
  • Assist livestream producer as needed
  • Assist with and manage social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok) on game day

Weekly Responsibilities:

During the week, candidates may be responsible for various tasks depending on their skills and interests. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Write game previews, recaps, and stories about the club
  • Creation of Social Media and marketing content
  • Community engagement events
  • Sponsor engagement
  • Member and fan engagement

GRAPHIC DESIGN

 

Description: These individuals will be responsible for assisting with home game day duties that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Game promotion
  • Starting lineup
  • Goal scoring
  • Player substitution
  • Final score
  • Player statistics
  • Social media
  • Community engagement activities

Most home games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Lansing Eastern Stadium.

Key Game Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide game-related visual content for social media

Weekly Responsibilities:

During the week, candidates may be responsible for various tasks depending on their skills and interests. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Create visual content to be used for upcoming games
  • Community engagement events

PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEOGRAPHY

 

Description: These individuals will be responsible for capturing visual content at events such as:

  • Player tryouts
  • Home games
  • Away games (transportation provided)
  • Practices
  • Community engagement activities

Most home games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Lansing Eastern Stadium and broadcast on YouTube. Digital cameras can be provided if necessary.

Key Game Day Responsibilities:

  • Take photos and videos of coaches, players, and spectators
  • Operate a broadcast-quality video camera to record on-field action

Weekly Responsibilities:

During the week, candidates may be responsible for various tasks depending on their skills and interests. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Create visual content such as photo albums and highlight videos
  • Community engagement events

Livestream Commentator

Description: These individuals will be responsible for assisting with home game day duties that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Livestream broadcast commentary during home games
  • Match preview and recap videos
  • Interviewing coaches and players
  • Attending occasional team practices
  • Community engagement activities

Most home games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at Lansing Eastern Stadium and broadcast on YouTube.

Key Game Day Responsibilities:

  • Commentate on games that are livestreamed on YouTube
  • Conduct and transcribe interviews with team members
  • Assist livestream producer as needed

Coaching Assistant

Description: These individuals will be responsible for assisting coaching staff with training preparation and equipment management. This will include tasks such as: 

  • Setting up and taking down equipment for training sessions 
  • Assisting with inventory and organization of training gear and equipment.
  • Assisting coaches during training sessions as needed.

Key Training Responsibilities:

  • Arrive before training sessions to assist with field setup and ensure all equipment is ready for use.
  • Work closely with coaching staff to understand the training plan and prepare necessary materials.
  • Monitor and assist with the maintenance of equipment during training sessions.
  • Help with post-training cleanup and equipment storage.
  • Training sessions will take place on weekday evenings, usually 2 -3 times per week. Attendance at training sessions is required. Attendance at games on weekends is optional.
