As our inaugural season approaches, we wanted to give you more of an introduction to the players who will represent Lansing Common on the field this summer. Today, it’s time to get to know Ty Usiak.

What position do you play and what do you think Lansing Common fans will enjoy most about the way you play?

I play Outside Midfield or Center Attacking Mid. I think the fans will enjoy how electric I am going forward and my ability to beat defenders and score goals.

What is the #1 thing you are hoping to work on this summer in regards to your game?

The number one thing I am hoping to work on this summer is my ability to connect 1-2 touch passes and finding the right teammate to pass to in tight situations.

We see a lot of quotes out there about your pace, energy, and work rate. Your coach at WMU also credited your drive for what got you to the D1 level. Is this drive something you’ve always had, or was it something you had to work on?

My drive is something that I found my freshman year of high school and is 100% the reason I am where I am today.

What was your favorite moment you have ever had on a soccer field?

My favorite moment I ever had on a soccer field was scoring a goal from 35 yards out in the state cup finals.

What hobbies do you have when you aren’t playing soccer?

When I’m not playing soccer I enjoy hanging out with friends, golfing, and fishing.

Tell us something you enjoy about the Lansing area.

The central location and the communities around the Lansing area are two things I have always enjoyed.
