Lansing Common announced today that Brent Sorg will return as Head Coach for the 2024 season. Sorg returns for a 4th season with the Robins after serving as an assistant coach in 2021 and taking over as head coach midway through the 2022 season.

“I’m excited to be back,” said Sorg. “This summer we will see some bright new talent that, combined with our experience, should provide an electric brand of soccer and we hope to make the Lansing community proud.

“Brent is a great coach who provides an elite training environment for Lansing Common players,” said club President Eric Walcott. “He’s committed to this club and this community, and we’re thrilled to have him back.”

In 2023, his first full season as head coach, Sorg led the Robins to a 9-3-2 record in all competitions, finishing just three points outside of first place in the Midwest Premier League Great Lakes West Division.

Sorg brings a wealth of experience to his position, including stints as an assistant coach at Spring Arbor University and Alma College, and 12 years as Head Coach at Williamston High School where his teams were 7-time district champions and 3-time state finalists. Sorg was named Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2014. He served as an assistant coach for Lansing Common in 2021 and 2022 before being named interim head coach midway through the 2022 season.

Lansing Common competes in the Midwest Premier League, where it has earned more points through three seasons than any club in league history. Memberships for the 2024 season, which kicks off in May, are now available at lansingcommonfc.com/memberships
