LANSING, Mich – In perhaps the most anticipated matchup of the season, the Robins of Lansing Common FC (5-0-1) host defending Great Lakes Conference Champions Goshen City FC (4-2-0) at Eastern Stadium this Saturday, June 27, at 5:00 p.m. It will be the only time the two clubs face each other this season.

Lansing sits in first place in the Midwest Premier League’s Great Lakes West Division with 16 points. The Robins will be looking to hold onto that top spot against Goshen City, who sit in second place with 12 points.

LCFC’s previous league match was on June 17 against Holland Rovers FC in Saugatuck, MI. Lansing earned a 3-1 victory with goals from forward Carter Hagan, and midfielders Elijah Vue and Jack Heald.

“We’ve been saying all season, this is one of the strongest teams we’ve had in a while, we’ve got a deep team,” assistant coach Todd Derby said, following the win.

Depth and total team efforts have been the narrative for many of Lansing’s victories this season, with different players stepping up throughout the campaign.

To earn a win against Goshen City, the Robins will need to pull out another performance with all hands on deck.

“It’s going to be an important game for the league,” Derby said. “We have a little time off for some guys who were nicked up to get better, so I think we’re in a good spot.”

Goshen City is coming off a 1-0 home loss to third-place Tulip City United (3-1-1), whom Lansing defeated 4-1 on June 6 at Eastern Stadium. Fresh off the loss, Goshen will be on the hunt for points and a pathway back to the top of the division.

The clubs split the season series last year with the Robins earning a 3-2 victory in Indiana and Goshen coming away with a 3-1 win in Lansing.

Last season’s match at Eastern Stadium saw multiple yellow and red cards issued to both teams due to a number of physical altercations. Goshen City was reduced to nine players, but managed to find a way to score two goals after the 80th minute and take home all three points.

Both teams enter this match with a chip on their shoulder. Goshen, looking to get closer to a second-straight title, and Lansing, trying to increase its lead at the top of the division.

The Robins host Goshen City FC on Saturday, June 27, at Eastern Stadium at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are just $5 online or $7 at the gate.
