GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – Lansing Common FC held on to an early 2-0 lead against Midwest United FC to earn their first road win of the 2026 Midwest Premier League season.

The Robins carried their momentum from last week’s late equalizer against 1927SC into a dominant first-half performance away from home. Midfielder Owen Resch made his first appearance of the season and had an immediate impact on Lansing’s attack.

Owen Resch advances the ball in a game against Midwest United FC in Grand Rapids, MI on May 22, 2026.

In the third minute, Resch played a ball into the path of forward Xtreme Hauk, who finished his run with a shot to the lower-left corner that found the back of the net and put the Robins up 1-0.

Lansing kept the pressure on Midwest United for the rest of the opening half.

Midfielder Jack Heald found Hauk streaking into open space again in the 13th minute. The East Lansing native put a shot over a sliding defender and into the near side of the goal. It was Hauk’s second two-goal performance of the season after accomplishing the same feat in a home friendly against Ypsilanti Athletic FC.

The intensity of the match increased after LCFC built their two-goal lead. A series of hard tackles and physical play resulted in several yellow cards being issued to members of both teams. The half ended with a 2-0 scoreline, leaving Midwest United with a number of problems to solve.

The hosts opened the second half with a renewed offensive game plan that tilted the field slightly in their favor. Lansing’s defense stood up to the task and kept Midwest United at bay for the remainder of the contest.

Goalkeeper Jonny Schwarz made his Midwest Premier League debut for the Robins and maintained a clean sheet throughout a series of second-half shots and set pieces by Midwest United.

“I thought that was a strong defensive game by everybody that was on the field, ” Schwarz said. “Everybody got stuck in, did their jobs, and honestly, it was the perfect three points.”

Lansing returns to Eastern Stadium for a home friendly against Imlay City FC on Sunday, May 31 at 4:00 p.m. before returning to Midwest Premier League action on the road against 1927SC on Wednesday, June 3 in Fort Wayne, IN.
