Lansing Common is thrilled to announce the coaching staff for the upcoming 2024 season, led by Head Coach Brent Sorg. The coaching team includes Assistant Coaches Steve Horn and Todd Derby along with Goalkeeper Coach Eric Court.

“I’m extremely excited about our coaching staff this year,” said Head Coach Brent Sorg. “We combine a talented, knowledgeable, and experienced group who each bring unique perspectives. The coaches will challenge the players daily and we will all strive to win a championship for the city of Lansing.”

Steve Horn is currently in his third year as Cleary University’s head women’s soccer coach and brings a wealth of experience including 18 seasons of high school coaching experience at Lansing Everett HS and Williamston HS.

“I am very excited and grateful to be back coaching with Lansing Common this upcoming season,” said Horn. “I look forward to being a part of the staff that brings a championship to the City of Lansing and the best fans in the Capital area.  UP THE ROBINS!”

Todd Derby brings over 30 years of coaching experience, including serving as a Head Coach in the Michigan Olympic Development Program for over two decades and as a USSF Coaching Education Instructor. Derby holds a USSF A License. 

“Uber excited to join Coach Sorg and the Lansing Common Football Club family,” said Derby. “I’m very much looking forward to the new challenges of coaching and developing players at LCFC.”

Eric Court will coach Lansing Common goalkeepers this season. Court brings 18 years of coaching experience, currently serving as an age group director for Michigan Jaguars Lansing. Court holds a USSF C License and USC National Goalkeeping Diploma. 

“I am extremely excited to join the Lansing Common FC staff and Family for the 2024 season,” said Court. “I am looking forward to a successful season on the field and making a difference in the Lansing Community.” 

Lansing Common kicks off its 2024 Midwest Premier League season in May at Lansing Eastern Stadium. Season ticket memberships are currently available on the club website and the team’s schedule will be announced in March.
